Endodontic surgery
Endodontic surgery or microsurgery is indicated in the event of failure of endodontic treatment or retreatment (persistence of a lesion) or when conventional endodontic retreatment is impossible (presence of a fractured instrument after a curvature, an apical curvature non-negotiable, fenestration, partially mineralized canals, excessively large root anchors, non-soluble filling material, etc.).
Endodontic surgery involves removing inflamed or infected tissue by severing the end of the root and apically placing a biocompatible filling material in a cleaned, prepared and disinfected canal.
